2018 Summer Internship

In 2018 I worked for Quest Diagnostics in Marlborough, Massachusetts. I worked in the Test Sendouts department where it was my responsibility to make sure that the specimens made it to the proper location and at the correct temperature.

I also did some work with processing emails and answering phone calls from other labs and various clients. There were times that the system we used made mistakes, and we had to manually correct these technical errors. I was able to prove that I could process lots of information accurately.

Education

University of Detroit Mercy: 5-year Information Analysis Honors & Master's degree (2021).

My first year here has taught me some important lessons about life. The leadership class has inspired me to think about who I am and who I want to be. I am currently studying to obtain a Master's in Information Analysis program (2021).

I have decided that I want to be the best leader and best server that I can be. The Emerging Leaders Program and its required 125 hours of service are helping me achieve this. These service hours help me to enhance my leadership skills, by helping me to understand proper service skills.

I believe that my college career will make me a better leader and server by giving me well-rounded education, and through this Emerging Leaders Program.

I have also enjoyed my major classes: Introduction to Information Systems and Information Assurance. Next semester I will be taking Networking and Software Testing.

Lake Fenton High School

I began by full-time public school career in my 11th grade year. After participating in the band program, I decided to attend the public school full time as a result of my positive experiences. I ended my high school career with a 3.86 GPA, 16th in my class, and a 29 ACT. I received outstanding AP test scores that counted for 13 college credits.

Homeschool

I was homeschooled through my 10th grade year. My homeschooling experience at the time was good me, as was my public school experience. The high school homeschool classes I did by video correspondence. Both my homeschool and public school experiences shaped me into the person that I am.

For example, my homeschool teacher always made us give speeches instead of reading prepared speeches. As a result of this I now have stronger public speaking and impromptu speaking skills than most other people.

Homeschooling allowed me to develop myself as a person, and not be what other people my age said I should be. While many might say that socialization is an issue with homeschoolers, I was active in extracurricular activities with kids my age. This, in turn, kept me from being exposed to all the negative peer pressure that other elementary kids are subject to. These experiences helped to make me into not only a strong individual, but I also developed good learning skills by taking constructive criticism well.

Extracurricular

Cross Country (2015-Present)

I participated in two high school seasons, where I qualified for the state meet both seasons. In college I finished 37th in the Horizon League, and 153rd in the Great Lakes Region.

Track & Field (2014-Present)

In the spring of my 10th grade year, I started track at the public school. Never having run before I did not have any idea of my potential. However, I qualified for the state meet in three events in both my junior and senior year. I achieved three school individual records, as well as a school record in the 4x800m relay.

I accredit my rapid improvement to my hard work ethic and doing everything asked of me. My first invitational mile was a 4:58 mile. Two years later I completed 4:21 mile victory at the regional meet. I was tied for the fastest seed time going into the state meet finished 15th in the MHSAA Division 2 race. I have applied this hard work ethic to everything that I do, and am pleased with the success that it has given me.

Band

I have played my trombone for 5 years, in which I have advanced rapidly with my playing skills. While most players start in 6th grade I started in 8th grade. After my uncle-he was my instructor when I started-passed away, I resumed lessons a year later with an instructor that he had recommended.

I officially started playing the summer of my 9th grade year, and by the end of my 10th grade year I was second chair in a 16 member trombone section.  I then went on to become first chair, as well as section leader of the trombone section.

My experiences with band have showed me how much diligence and hard work can pay off in a short amount of time. I have continued to do this in athletics and academics, and have seen tremendous results.

Soccer (2006-2014)

Soccer was my primary sport for many years. I participated in AYSO as well as a local homeschool team. In addition to being a player, I also volunteered as a referee, where I officiated over 100 games from the age groups U-8 to U-14.
